LANDnet Young Professionals Program: Kyambogo Class of 2016 Finalists

As they look forward to wearing their caps and gowns later this year, the Kyambogo University Land Economics class of 2016 students finalists’ dinner was held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala, on Friday 21st February under the theme "La Transition". The social event was organized by students in their final-year to celebrate the end of the taught period of their Degree. The glamorous setting of the event with the elegantly decorated room and delicious meal made the occasion feel very special, and everyone seemed to enjoy the opportunity to socialize with fellow students in a different environment.

It was such a great opportunity for LANDnet Uganda to not only showcase her vast knowledge in the field of Land management but also to inspire more young land professionals (land economists) into the field given the great role that they play in designing systems of land administration geared towards propelling the country to a modern economy.

The objectives of the event were;

  • To enable students to interact with professionals, about what lies ahead and what is expected of them in the surveying profession.
  • To brief, instill and emphasize the ethical conduct of the surveying profession.
  • To awaken students and spark them off to face the much-wanting surveying profession.
  • To reinforce the bond amongst students, lecturers, and other professionals.
  • To expose students to possible employment opportunities by interacting with various employers.

LANDnet Uganda was honored to have open discussions with the students on issues such as what is required of the students when they get to the working field and how to manage challenges that they would come across as young processionals especially in the Land management and administration field. This was delivered through a presentation on the topic '"The role of land economists (valuers) in land administration and management". The evening was a great success and had an awarding and cake cutting ceremony to wrap it up.
